Compete with Confidence When It Matters Most.

Sport psychology based mental performance training for competitive figure skaters who want to skate the way they practice.

Who We Are

Helping athletes build confidence, manage competition nerves, strengthen focus, and perform under pressure through evidence based mental skills training designed specifically for figure skating.

The Mission

At Performance Positive, we believe every skater deserves to train their mind with the same intention as they train their body. Our mission is to help competitive figure skaters overcome performance anxiety, build lasting confidence, and perform closer to their true potential through evidence-based mental performance training that creates success both on and off the ice.

    Why Performance Positive

WHEN PRACTICE AND COMPETITION FEEL LIKE TWO DIFFERENT WORLDS

You know your child is capable. You've watched them land difficult jumps in practice. You've seen the early mornings, the determination, and the countless hours they've dedicated to the sport they love.

Then competition day arrives.Their legs start shaking.Their heart races. They begin doubting themselves before they even step onto the ice.

Suddenly, a jump they've landed hundreds of times falls apart.

After the program, they step off the ice frustrated and quietly say, “I don't know what happened."

As a parent, it can be heartbreaking to watch. You want to help, but you aren't always sure what to say. You remind them to believe in themselves. To have fun. To relax.

    Yet nothing seems to change.

If any of this feels familiar, please know that you and your skater are not alone.

Many talented athletes struggle with confidence under pressure, not because they aren't capable, but because they've never been taught the mental side of performance.

Practical mental skills for real competition moments.

At Performance Positive, we believe every figure skater should train their mind just like they train their jumps and spins.

Our signature program, Practice to Podium, is a live mental performance training program designed specifically for competitive figure skaters.

Over four weeks, athletes learn practical, science backed strategies to:

    ✔ Build lasting confidence

    ✔ Manage competition nerves

    ✔ Strengthen focus under pressure

    ✔ Develop helpful self talk

    ✔ Bounce back after mistakes

    ✔ Create competition day routines

    ✔ Enjoy skating again

    This isn't about trying harder.

It's about learning the skills that allow confidence to grow.

Long before I became a Registered Psychotherapist and completed my Master's degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology and Masters in Counselling Psychology, I was the skater standing at the boards wondering if I could perform the way I knew I could.

I understand the excitement, the pressure, the self doubt, and the incredible joy that comes with this sport because I've lived it.

Later, as a skating coach, I watched talented athletes struggle with the exact same challenges.

It became clear that while skaters spend countless hours training their bodies, very few are ever taught how to train their minds.

    That realization inspired Performance Positive.

Today, I combine my experience as a former competitive figure skater, skating coach, Registered Psychotherapist, and sport psychology graduate to help athletes build confidence, perform under pressure, and enjoy the sport they love.

Because every skater deserves to step onto the ice believing in themselves.

Confidence isn’t something you’re born with, it’s something that you build overtime with action and evidence.

"Confidence isn't the absence of nerves. Confidence is trusting yourself even when your heart is racing."

At Performance Positive, we believe success isn't measured only by medals or podium finishes.

    It's measured by courage.

    Growth.

    Resilience.

    Showing up.

    Learning from mistakes.

And becoming the athlete and person you want to be.

Because the mental skills developed through sport extend far beyond the rink.

    Get Started

Every great performance starts with one small step.

    SUPPORTING THE WHOLE ATHLETE

Performance Positive focuses on helping athletes strengthen the mental skills needed for sport performance.

Sometimes, however, a skater's challenges extend beyond competition nerves.

If concerns such as anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, body image difficulties, or other mental health concerns become the primary focus, individual psychotherapy may provide the most appropriate level of support.

Through STC Therapy, I offer evidence based virtual psychotherapy for adolescents and adults across Ontario.

If you're unsure which path is right for your athlete, I'm always happy to help you determine the best fit.
